Each September The Helping Hands Foundation hosts a night of unlimited food, unlimited rides, and unlimited fun at Adventureland. This exclusive, limited tickets event is a night to not only celebrate what the foundation has accomplished throughout the year, but to also support programs that fulfill a variety of needs throughout the Long Island Community.

This year’s Friends & Family V.I.P. event is Friday, September 7th 6pm-10pm. Tickets are sold in packages of 30; advanced reservations only. For a donation of $2,500, your 30 guests can experience Adventureland like never before.

The night kicks off with twin food trucks by Felico’s Catering, dishing out favorites like sausage and peppers, hamburgers, hot dogs, mac and cheese, philly cheese steaks and more. Raffles will be available for a donation in advance and the night of, and ten grand prize winners will be chosen (winner need not be present). Midway games and the arcade will also be available for a donation.

Last year’s inaugural event raised over $110,000! The funds raised will allow us to lend an even greater helping hand to the Long Island Community. The funds will help us to grow and expand the Tony Gentile Memorial Scholarship Program, the Christmas in July Toy Drive, the School Supply Drive, the Fall Food Drive, and our Grant Program for years to come.

Experience what it means to be a V.I.P. at Adventureland. Give your family, your clients, and your employees the chance to have fun while helping the Long Island community.

Adventureland Celebrates National Roller Coaster Day with Free rides on Turbulence and Lady Bug Coaster

On Thursday, August 16th, Long Island Adventureland is celebrating National Roller Coaster day with FREE rides on both of our awesome coasters for guests who donate to the Helping Hands Foundation’s annual school supply drive. That’s right; FREE rides on Turbulence and the Lady Bug all day for guests that donate school supplies on Thursday, August 16th.

School supply donations will be accepted from 11am until 10pm on August 16th at Adventureland, and they will benefit Adventureland’s Helping Hands Foundation’s annual School Supply Drive. This drive supports local students in need. Only new, unopened items will be accepted.

The Turbulence Coaster was added to the local landmark park in the summer of 2015 and continues to be a favorite among adults and children. The cars on this custom-made yellow and green Mack coaster spin freely as they travel the tracks, giving riders 360 degrees of thrills, and a unique experience each time they ride.

The Lady Bug Coaster is a kiddie coaster that packs a punch. Speeding around the track, this red coaster brings smiles and laughs to all who experience it. The memories on the Lady Bug are captured on camera and prints, souvenir gifts, and digital downloads are available for purchase.

The Helping Hands Foundation’s annual “Back to School” School Supply Drive every August has provided thousands of school supplies to students and programs in Copiague, Amityville, and Wyandanch School Districts. Although people who donate on August 16th can enjoy free roller coaster rides, donations of new items are accepted at Adventureland everyday from August 1st until Labor Day.

Adventureland’s Helping Hands Foundation Scholarship Program

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Adventureland’s Helping Hands Foundation and the Tony Gentile Memorial Scholarship. As you may know, Adventureland has been the leader in family fun on Long Island for nearly 60 years. As a midsized family amusement park located in Farmingdale, we’re dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and inclusive fun for everyone, and we’re honored to call Long Island our home.

In 2013, Adventureland founded The Helping Hands Foundation to focus more efforts on how to maximize our philanthropy throughout Long Island. Since our inception, The Helping Hands Foundation has established four annual drives: the Christmas in July Toy Drive, August School Supply Drive, Fall Food Drive, and the Coats for a Cause Drive. These efforts have allowed us to donate thousands of goods to Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, the Town of Babylon Food Pantry, Long Island Harvest, multiple at-risk school districts like Wyandanch, Copiague, and Uniondale, and many more local organizations.

In addition to our drives, we’ve also established a growing scholarship and grant program that assists Long Island residents with college tuition and assists non-profit organizations with special projects and initiatives. To date, our Tony Gentile Memorial Scholarship Fund Events has issued nearly $30,000 in scholarships to Long Islanders pursing a college degree.

You can find more information and applications for the 2018 Tony Gentile Memorial Scholarship and an application for the Sachem Dental Group Endowed Scholarship on our website, www.HelpingHandsli.org.  Eligible applicants must be a senior at a Long Island High School, they must be attending a college or university group events on Long Island as a fulltime student in the fall of 2018, and they must submit a completed application by May 4, 2018. Applicants for the Sachem Dental Group Endowed Scholarship must be pursuing a degree in the sciences or medical fields.

The Tony Gentile Memorial Scholarship will award five $2,000 scholarships, and the Sachem Dental Group Endowment will award one $2,000 scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded in late July. Recipients of the award will be notified via email on or before May 31, 2018. Please note that if any interested student is a current Adventureland Employee, they must complete a separate application.
