Coats for a Cause Press Release 2017

Adventureland’sHelping Hands Foundation launched the Coats for a Cause Program in March of this year. The goal for this initiative is to encourage and foster engagement among groups and organizations that frequent Adventurelandwith the Helping Hands Foundation, while providing winter gear to the local homeless community.

Each of the groups and organizations that hosted a trip to Adventureland during the 2017 season received free snack for their group members by donating new or very gently used winter coats or other winter items (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) to The Helping Hands Foundation.

All coats and winter items collected were donated to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless. The Coats for a Cause initiative received tremendous support—hundreds coats were collected and donated.

Originally founded as the Nassau-Suffolk Partnership in 1985, the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless educates the public and advocates for the development of Emergency, Transitional and Permanent Low-Cost Housing.
